The End of the Globe Practice itself ocurred out of the dual-parameter need to fill the then-inhospitable isle of Tierra del Fuego, found at the southeast tip of Southern America, and to create a prison to  precast railway sleeper which the country's scammers could be sent. On Oct 12, 1884, the Tierra del Fuego government had been established, along with Ushuaia, the southern-most town, which is situated 3,000 miles south of Buenos Aires and 4,000 miles northern of the earth's southeast rod.

Prisoners would typically leave on the Convict Practice before beginning double block sleeper , sitting on its flat bed vehicles with their feet clinging over the sides during the 27-kilometer run to Lapataia, where they would cut timber among the sub-Antarctic cool throughout the day, while others would renew the locomotive's firebox with timber during the trip. During the cool months months season, the filter monitor often had to be shoveled. Upon return, the men either rode on top of the cut timber or ran plus the train, carefully protected.
